Marinated Cheese

I had a few requests for this the other night. It has been one of my go to recipes for years. And I use "my" loosely - as it came from Southern Living. Enjoy!

Marinated Cheese

1/2 Cup Olive Oil
1/2 Cup White Wine Vinegar
3 Tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
3 Tablespoons minced green onions
1 Teaspoon Sugar
3/4 Teaspoon dried basil
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
3 Cloves garlic, minced
1 (2 oz) jar diced pimiento, drained
1 block sharp Cheddar cheese, chilled
1 (8oz) package cream cheese

Garnish:  fresh parsley sprigs

Combine first 10 ingredients in jar; cover tightly, and shake vigorously. Set aside.

Cut block of Cheddar in half lengthwise. Cut cross-wise into 1/4-inch-thick slices. Repeat procedure with cream cheese. Arrange cheese slices alternately in shallow baking dish, standing on edges. Pour marinade over cheese slices. Cover and marinade for at least 8 hours.

Transfer cheese slices to a serving platter in same alternate fashion, reserving marinade. Spoon marinade over cheese slices. Garnish, if desired. Serve with assorted crackers.

Makes: 12 to 16 appetizer servings

Hint: I like to place cream cheese in freezer for 20 - 30 minutes before slicing.

Sweets for my Sweets

Several months ago I joined MOMS Club of Charleston http://www.momsclubofcharleston.com/ .
Not only is there always a fun activity planned for our children, once a month we look forward to the "Moms Night Out" night. This month one of our fabulous members hosted a Sweets for your Sweet get together. This lady has got it together! I was amazed by all the chocolates, toppings, molds, sprinkles, and cute packaging. She made it so easy for all us. I even created a few chocolate covered marshmallows pops. I must say, I'm proud. Hopefully my sweets will enjoy too.

Thanks for a great night, Callie!

I made these!

The Mustard Ceiling

A big thank you to TMC Designs for my lovely new blog layout. I am thrilled with how it turned out! Honestly, I am clueless on this type of thing. Owner and designer, Elizabeth, was always patient with my silly questions. I highly recommend TMC Designs for your blog too. You won't be disappointed!

Happy Thursday! Hope it's a great day!

Valentine's Day

I got a little tickled while reading some of my favorite blogs today. There are so many ladies posting pictures of their Valentines dinner outfits. Of course these chicks are much cooler and put together than myself. That's why I love and envy their blogs. I can't help myself. So, I thought I'd share my Valentines dinner outfit with all of you.

My husband and I have a tradition (this will be year 7) of having frozen lasagna from Costco, garlic bread, and red wine. I hope you find my outfit as fabulous as I do.

Comfort Food

When I am sick, the only thing I want to eat is an eggroll and wonton soup. Today is one of those days. This sore throat does not make me smile. But, hubby bringing home my favorite comfort food does. And a chick flick to watch in bed doesn't hurt either. Take that, sore throat!

What is your favorite comfort food?
